What is an autoresponder?
How do you spell Autoresponder?
An autoresponder is an engine that sends pre-set emails to a website visitor who subscribed to your autoresponder (or newsletter).
Autoresponders are the elements that can be added to a website, that automate a tremendous amount of work, while at the same time provide a number of additional benefits.
Imagine a visitor to your web site who wants to have more information about your website, or service or product. He sends you an email and you have to replay to every such email. You also have to follow up with every person with additional information and try to build a raport, so that these people eventually buy your service or product.
Enters the autoresponder.
You write at least nine emails that will be sent in sequence to anybody asking for more information or subscribe to your course or newsletter. The first email will go out immediately and the following emails will be sent every third or forth day, until all nine emails are sent.
Purpose
These emails explains the the person who asked different aspects of your site of product or service. The purpose is to inform the person about all the nuances involved. At the end of nine emails the person has a very clear picture of who you are and what your website is about.
Time saver
Can you image the time that you have saved. Instead of sending emails for every inquiry, you set the email sequence up once and after that it is automated - run by itself.
Benefits
Statistics has shown that prospects making enquiries about your product - and eventually buy) will act as follows:
- 7% will buy within the first three contacts (i.e. emails). We also call them leaders or impulse buyers.
- 81% will buy in between the fourth and seventh contact (or email). This is the bulk of potential customers.
- 12% will buy after the seventh contact. We call these people the laggers.
Some people require twelve contacts before they have enough confidence to buy from you.
The autoresponder is the ideal vehicle to follow up with each person and keep in contact, until the make the buying decision - or the decision the we require them to make. And all of that on autopilot.
