Easy way to choose a color scheme

Should the color scheme of your website be blue? Or red? Or white? White? White? What color would ever go with white?

These are the questions that circle in your mind - over and over - and very often forces you to indecision. The simple question of what should be the color scheme.

Fortunately there is now a resource available, that can help you decide on your web site color scheme in a jiffy. It is ColorSchemer.com

There are two methods to use when deciding on a color scheme:

Method 1 - The header image

The most popular method is to have your header designed first (or may you do it yourself). Once the header image is available, the colors of your web site flows from the colors of your header image.

On ColorSchemer you can have a look at various color scheme, do searches a quickly narrow down your color scheme according to your header image colors.

Method 2 - The colors first

In my case, I decide to start with the colors. I did a search for ‘maroon’ on the ColorSchemer website and found a list of color schemes to suit my site design.

The one I choose was the one below:

As you can see, this color scheme consists of black, gray, maroon, yellow and white. I liked the color scheme, because the yellow brings in some sunshine and enthusiasm to the black, maroon and gray.

Once I have decided on the color scheme, I adapted the colors of the header image to fit the color scheme - as you can see on top of Maroonblog.com

Summary

Either according to your header image colors or right off the bat, choose the color scheme first and change the image afterwards. You can now choose the color image to exactly suit the image you want to portray from your web site.
